Leicester Hospital

Leicester Hospital | Infirmary Square, Leicester, LE1 5WW | Leicestershire

We are excited to be working with the Level 3 neonatal unit at Leicester General Hospital and the Level 1 unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Across the 2 sites there are 42 cots, with plans for expansion in the future.

Leicester is the Lead Neonatal Intensive Care for the region.

Current Appeal:

The clinical team have requested 2 Biliblankets for their Transitional Care part of the unit to help reduce the number of neonatal admissions when a baby requires small amounts of jaundice treatment.

The blankets will enable Mums to breast, bottle feed and cuddle their baby whilst they undergo the phototherapy treatment and not be separated. It also helps to avoid an unnecessary admission to the neonatal unit which increases the cost of care.

Level 3 Unit:  Deliveries of babies less than 27 weeks & in need of intensive care

Number of cots: 30

Level 1 Unit:  Deliveries at 32 weeks gestation and above considered to be low risk

Number of cots: 12

Babies treated per annum: Over 500

Matron/ Sister: Chelsea Larn
